Ann J. Wade

Ann Joan (Thomas) Wade passed away October 5, 2023 in her home. Born August 30, 1936 to parents Merle & Ruth Thomas, Ann graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1954, received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Depauw University in 1958, taught third and fourth grade for four years in Washington Township Schools, then received her Masters Degree in Education from Indiana University in 1962. She married Douglas M. Wade on June 16, 1962, and raised three sons, Thomas M. Wade (Dan Roose), Stephen C. Wade (Teresa), and David M. Wade (Claire). She leaves four grandchildren Madeleine, Gregory, Laura, and Allison, and two sisters, Eleanor Nash, and Audrey Pelham (who passed away in January 2023). In 1980, Ann was asked to substitute for one day at Saint Richard’s Episcopal School. That one day turned into 13 years of teaching wonderful second graders. Ann was president of the Women’s group at Epworth United Methodist Church, and later she taught Sunday school at Second Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for 39 years. Many of Ann’s friends remember her for her everlasting smile, through good times and not so good times. A visitation for Ann will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Second Presbyterian Church, 7700 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46260, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
