Ann Huesmann Thompson

Ann Mansfield Huesmann Thompson died on April 29, 2023. She was born on July 26, 1929, the daughter of Louis M Huesmann and Virginia Mansfield Pearce Huesmann. She was predeceased by her husband Dr Joseph F Thompson and is survived by four sons, John Bridge (Barbara), Joseph Pearce (Susanne) Dr. Samuel Tanner (Frances), Dr. David MacDonald (Kelli), numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a brother Dr. Louis C Huesmann (Margaret). She was predeceased by a daughter Julia Huesmann Thompson in 1966.
She was a 1947 graduate of the former Tudor Hall School and attended Mount Holyoke College and was graduated from DePauw University in 1951.
After college she worked at the former Merchants National Bank, was an editorial assistant at the former Bobbs Merrill Company in Indianapolis and Consolidated Book Publishers in Chicago. She later earned a Masters degree in English at Indiana University, Bloomington, and briefly taught freshman English at IUPUI.
She and her husband Joseph were married on June 17, 1953. Many summers were spent on Drummond Island Michigan where they enjoyed seeing friends, parents, siblings and in-laws. Especially treasured were visits with her sister-in-law, Susanna Thompson Dumbrille and husband in Canada as well as Shakespearean plays in Stratford Ontario, Canada.
She was a member of the Junior League of Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Women's Club, (One year being its president), and Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Both she and her husband were active members of St Paul's Episcopal Church. Services will be held at St Paul's Episcopal Church at 10:30 AM, on Thursday May 4th with burial at Crown Hill Cemetery to follow. Calling will be at the Crown Hill Funeral home, 700 W 38th st. on Wednesday May 3 from 4-6 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to St Paul's Church or Gleaner's Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
