Leon Dean Sibert, 78, of Independence, passed away on September 20, 2017, surrounded by family. A visitation is scheduled for September 26, 2017, from 9-10:30am, Rosary will be prayed. A Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30am, services will be held at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd., Independence, MO. Committal at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Dean was born on August 14, 1939, in Elkton, Missouri to Jesse Sibert and Ora (Womack) Sibert. He graduated from Wheatland High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1960. Pen pals during Dean’s time in the service, Dean and Fran were engaged in August of 1962, married in February of 1963. From their union, they had three sons, Michael (Mary) Sibert, Matthew (Chrystal) Sibert and Mark (Annissa) Sibert. Dean worked for more than 30 years at George H Weyers, before retiring. In his retirement, Dean enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, as well he would frequently attend local High School sporting events. Dean is survived by his wife Fran of the home, his brother; John Sibert and sister, Judy Shipley, his three sons and their wives. Nine grandchildren; Rachael, Rebecca (Kevin), Luke, Cara, Jacob, Ashley (Jasyn), Brandon, Courtney, and Kendra. Two great grandchildren; Jayse, Camden. Memorial contributions in Dean’s honor may be made to St. Marks Catholic Church.
