Juanita Teresa (Crenshaw) Dorsch, 98 years old, passed away on December 13, 2022. She is survived by her three sons and their wives: Gregory and Laura M. Dorsch, Dr. Stephen and Laura A. Dorsch and Douglas and Tamie Dorsch. She also is survived by 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces and their children.
In addition to her parents (Marvin and Alice Crenshaw), she was preceded in death by her husband (Dr. Ervin H. Dorsch), her sister (Maxine Crenshaw), her three brothers (Leon Crenshaw and his wife, Marianne Crenshaw; Walton Crenshaw and Eugene Crenshaw and his wife, Sally Crenshaw) and her brother-in-law (Allen Dorsch and his wife, Elsie Dorsch) and her sister-in-law (Orena Dorsch).
Juanita was born October 28, 1924 in Independence, MO. She graduated 8th grade in 1938 and attended one year at Blue Springs High School prior to moving to Columbia, MO with her family. She graduated from Columbia Hickman High School in 1942. She competed in Track and Field, winning and placing in numerous events. Juanita graduated from the University of Missouri in 1946 with a B.S. degree in Home Economics. She then spent 15 months at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN training in hospital dietetics.
On June 25, 1948 she married Ervin H. Dorsch at the First Baptist Church in Columbia, MO. She worked as an Assistant Dietician at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Covington, KY while Ervin completed his Internship in Cincinnati, OH. She returned with Ervin to Independence, MO and she worked as an Assistant Dietician at Independence Regional Health Center (then Independence Sanitarium) until 1951. She was active in her growing family's lives, participating as Cub Scout Den Mother and in church and school activities.
Other than a brief stint from April 1955 through September 1956 (necessitated by Ervin's return to the Army) living in San Antonio, TX; she lived in the Kansas City, MO area (primarily in Independence, MO) for the rest of her life. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Independence, MO working with younger children and as a coordinator of kitchen services for numerous activities. She also remained a lifelong member of the Young Matron's Women's Auxiliary through Independence Regional Health Center.
Juanita was an avid Mizzou, Chiefs and Royals fan/supporter and attended countless sporting events in which her children and grandchildren participated. She and Ervin enjoyed numerous worldwide trips and she especially enjoyed the vacations she spent with her family including the early years at the Lake of the Ozarks, Bella Vista (AR), visits to the Dorsch farm in Herman (MO), Branson and trips throughout the United States.
She loved her family and was loved by them and will be missed by all.
Services will be at First Baptist Church in Independence, MO on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.
