Charlene Mathis, 86, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on December 12, 2024, at home surrounded by loved ones. A funeral service and visitation will be held at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Rd., Independence, MO 64050, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 7:00pm. Charlene was born on October 27, 1938, to Charles and Margaret Henderson, of Kansas City, Missouri. After finishing high school, she married Walter Thomas, and they had two sons, Darin and Brett Thomas. She later married Dean Mathis, her husband of fifty years and gained two stepchildren, Daina and Jeffrey. In her early working years, she modeled for various Kansas City agencies. To complete her career, she worked as a legal secretary. She enjoyed traveling with Dean and his music ministry, though their priority in life was centered around the evangelism of the Gospel. She enjoyed fulfilling her role as a mother and grandmother and loved spending her time with her family and friends. She is survived by her brother Lloyd Henderson (Charri), her sisters-in-law, Darlene McAnally and Donna Faye Custer, her children, Darin Thomas (Amy), Brett Thomas (Dianna), Daina Suggs (Larry), Jeffrey Mathis (Pam), her grandchildren, Braden, Broc, Breanna, Justin, Angela, and Tony, great-grandchildren, and lots of nieces and nephews. She is reunited in Heaven with her father and mother, Charles and Margaret Henderson, her husband Dean Mathis, her sister Joanne (Jim Seelbinder), and her brothers-in-law, Dean McAnally and Jay Custer.
