Fred was born on June 14, 1942 in Staten Island, New York to Harry and Elizabeth “Betty” Weeman. He grew up on Staten Island and graduated from Tottenville High School. At the age of 18 he proudly joined the United States Navy which took him to many places across the seas. He honorably served his country for 22 years and retired as Chief in October 1982. He then went to work for Newport News Ship Building, in Virginia, where he was a quality control inspector. In early 1989 he was offered a position with Newport News Ship Building to travel to Idaho and work at the INEL dismantling and de-fueling one of the Navy nuclear training submarines. Upon completion of that contract his family decided to make Idaho Falls, Idaho their permanent home and accepted another contract as a quality control inspector for Arringten Construction company for 2 years also at the INEL. When that contract expired Fred went to work for Walmart as an overnight unloader and stocker. He worked there for 17 years and retired in 2011. Fred thoroughly enjoyed retirement.
Fred and his wife Barb loved to travel. They took many fantastic cruises to several different areas. He never really could get the "sea dog" out of his blood. The last cruise they took was to Hawaii. It was the longest cruise they had taken together. Seeing Pearl Harbor was very important to him and he was happy to have had the opportunity to go. The last little adventure they took together was a long drive to see the Grand Canyon. Although it was not by ship, they enjoyed taking this trip together, but they both decided that long road trips were no longer for them. Some of the other things that he enjoyed were coaching baseball with his son Corey, being an assistant scout master, fishing, bowling, and playing with N-gauge model train. He was always very specific about his trains. He also thoroughly enjoyed the time he was able to spend with Barb and the ARTI theater crew. Although he refused to get up on stage, he loved supporting his wife in her acting and being involved in other ways, such as pouring wine at the galas, and meeting with the cast for their after show dinners. Fred also loved to watch Jeopardy. He also loved to play Trivial Pursuit. Whenever he had a house full of teenagers he would always set up for a game night and everyone was always "all in" even knowing if you weren't on "Dads team" you didn't stand a chance. He always looked forward to the weekend game night! Fred was devoted to his wife Barbara, his son Corey, his daughter-in-law Pepper, and truly enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren Aiden, and Riley. He truly wished to have had time with his older sons Michael, and Kevin and to have met their children.
Fred is survived by his wife Barbara of 46 years, son Corey Weeman (Pepper) Idaho Falls, Idaho, son Michael Weeman (Joyce) Buffalo, New York, son Kevin Weeman (Shannon) Bentonville, Arkansas, grandchildren Riley Weeman, Aiden Weeman, Matthew Weeman, Kathryn "Kate" Weeman-White (Cullen), David Weeman, and Maureen "Emmy" Weeman and great-grandson William White. Also to be included are his nieces, great- nieces & nephews, and great-great nieces & nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents Harry and Betty Weeman, his mother and father-in-law Kenny and Marie Gifford, his sister Judy Weeman-Taylor, and brother Thomas “Tommy” Weeman.
Fred was an amazing husband, a wonderful father, and a loving grandfather. He was a good friend, an honest friend and he will be missed tremendously.
"Dear god, watch over her for me,
that she may safely guarded be.
Help her each lonely hour to bear,
as I would lord if I were there.
When she is sleeping watch her then,
that fear may not her dreams offend.
Be ever near her throughout the day,
let non, but goodness come her way.
Sweet faithful girl who waits for me,
beyond the wide as spacious sea.
Be merciful, O God, I pray,
take care of her while I'm away."
