William (Bill) F. Powers III, 63, of Centerville formerly of Sandwich, passed away unexpectedly due to complications associated with CLL on March 15, 2018 at Brigham and Women's Hospital / Dana-Farber. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born in North Attleboro, MA to the late William Francis Jr. and Marie Louise (Bissonnette) Powers, and was raised in Taunton, MA where he graduated from Coyle-Cassidy High School.
Bill was an Operator Technician with GenOn Canal for over 30 years and served as Chief Steward of the AFL-CIO Utility Workers Union of America, Local #369 where he formed a lifelong bond with his many coworkers. Bill was looking forward to being back in the Chem Lab.
Bill loved summers on the beach, golfing, bird watching and was an avid New England sports fan. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His greatest joy in life was being “Pa” to his cherished grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Kathy; daughter Jennifer (Jim) Lepage of Plymouth; son Michael W. (Jen) Powers of Plymouth; stepchildren Kelsey Thomas of Boston; Sarah Thomas of Hyannis; Jillian Thomas of Centerville; grandchildren Grace, Max, Zoey, Jackson and Mila; and his little buddy Fenway. Also leaves behind his cherished sister Marie Powers-Dube of Lakeville, MA. Bill is also survived by his former spouse Anne Thyrre and many adored nieces, nephews and extended loving family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a gathering on Friday, March 23rd from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601 followed by an 11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Victory Church 230 South St., Centerville, MA 02632. A Celebration of Life will be held directly after Mass from 1:00-3:00 pm at Amari Ristorante 674 Rt. 6A E. Sandwich MA. Burial will be private.
