Born on March 31, 1930 in Quincy, MA, he was the son of the late Dr. William E. and Edith E. (Olson) Mullin.
William grew up in Squantum, MA and graduated from North Quincy High School in 1947. He went on to complete is his undergraduate and graduate education at Tufts University, where he was a catcher on the 1950 College World Series baseball team.
Following college, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and served five years of active duty. He then served in the Naval Reserve, attained the rank of Commander and retired in 1979.
On December 4, 1954, he married Marjorie M. Morin in Quincy, MA and they remained happily married for 59 years.
He was a high school teacher, coach and administrator that inspired the minds of many young people for over 25 years at Milton and Northbridge High Schools. Following his retirement in 1979, he went on to work as an interpreter at Plimouth Plantation.
William loved baseball and following the Boston Red Sox over the years. He was also a Cubmaster for the Cub Scouts in Milton. He spent his later years traveling, spending his summers on Sandy Neck and Wequaquet Lake, coaching youth baseball in Barnstable and playing in the slow pitch softball league until age 70.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marjorie M. Mullin of Centerville; his three sons, Stephen W. Mullin of Centerville, Robert E. Mullin and his wife, Linda of Duxbury, Theodore R. Mullin and his wife, Mary of East Sandwich; his daughter, Jeanne Mullin Steinmetz and her husband, Douglas of Bethel, CT; his grandchildren, Steven Mullin and his wife, Catherine, Paul Mullin, Sean Mullin and his wife Stephanie, Ryan Mullin, Lucas Mullin, Matthew Mullin, Jason Mullin, Carolyn Steinmetz, Laura Steinmetz; and his great grandchildren, William Mullin, LillyAnne Mullin, Benjamin Mullin and Marilyn Mullin.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family with burial taking place at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
