He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marie Horton Perez.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut and raised in Stratford, he was the son of the late Brigadier General Robert Perez and Georgina Lopez-Ceparo Perez and brother of Colonel George L. Perez.
A graduate of the University of Bridgeport where he achieved All Connecticut Honors in Football and earned varsity letters in both football and track. Prior to his senior year, he became a member of the Connecticut National Guard and attended Army Officers Candidate School at Ft. Riley Kansas. He retired from the National Guard after 20 years at the rank of Major.
Bob had a 40 year career as an engineer with Avco-Lycoming, Curtis Wright, Bell Laboratories and Becton Dickinson and Co. He resided for 25 of those years in Ridgewood, New Jersey before retiring to his beloved Cape Cod where he has lived in Cummaquid for the past 27 years. He loved sailing on Pleasant Bay and playing golf as a longtime member of the Cummaquid Golf Club where he served on the Board of Directors and was President of the Men’s Senior Golf Association.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his son, James A. Perez and his wife Lea Botsford Perez of Alpharetta, GA and his two granddaughters, Catherine Perez Bode and her husband Steven Bode of Birmingham, AL and Frances F. Perez of Atlanta, GA.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Hyannis on Wednesday, December 1st at 11:00 am. Burial service will be private.
