Patricia Richardson Jamison died on February 6, 2022. She was 90 years old. Trish, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on May 5, 1931, in New York City to Mary Jane (Coates) and Wilfred L. Richardson. She was raised in NYC and Westchester County, was a debutante in both locations, and graduated from the Westover School in CT in 1948. She worked at the Westchester Playhouse while she was a teenager. She attended Bryn Mawr College where she met her husband, Edgar M. Jamison, a Haverford College (’50) student in a bi-college production of “You Can’t Take It With You”. They were married in May 1951. She received her AB in Philosophy in 1952. Ted and Trish were happily married for 58 years when Ted died in 2009. After a stint traveling around while Ted was in the Army, they settled in NYC in 1953, then moved to the Bronxville section of Yonkers in 1960. Ted worked in the travel industry, first for Cunard, then for Union Carbide. Meanwhile, Trish was an avid volunteer, working with the PHNO (visiting nurse service), the Bronxville League for Service, West Center Congregational Church, and the PTA. She began at the PTA at PS#8 in Yonkers, became District Director of the Westchester County PTA and served on the NY State PTA board. She and Ted were subscribers to the Metropolitan Opera, NYC Opera, NY Philharmonic, several ballet companies, and were loyal Broadway attendees. They also sang every week in the church choir and enjoyed gardening. Trish and Ted loved to travel, visiting every continent except Antarctica. Trish was a strong advocate for the arts in education and helped create NYSTEA – NY State Theatre Education Association, as a founding member and a member of the executive board. In the late 70’s she worked for KIPI (Knowledge Industry Publications) where her field was education funding. She did consulting concerning education funding and education and the arts. Trish also worked hard for Bryn Mawr College as an alumna, interviewing prospective students, working college fairs, and serving as her class president for 50 years. Trish and Ted retired to Brewster, MA on Cape Cod in 1985 where they continued to live a life rich in the arts and volunteerism. Trish was a member and president of the board of their condominium association at Sears Point and served on the board of the Cape Cod Symphony. She created the Sears Point Condo Assoc. newsletter. Trish also wrote wonderful poems. Our parents taught us the meaning of unconditional love, to treat our friends as family, and the importance of choosing to do the right thing simply because it is right. They were staunch advocates for the greater good, and for talking things out to find a compromise. These gifts, plus the love of music, theatre, education, and travel are the things we will remember and pass on to the next generation. After Ted’s death in 2009, Trish was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She leaves behind many dear friends who enjoyed her rapid-fire wit, gracious hospitality, and generous spirit. Trish is survived by three children, Ann, Edie (Peter Koenig), and John; five grandchildren, Matthias, Ted (Erin), and Wilfred (Lyndsey) Jamison-Koenig, Phillip Orris, and Melissa (Michael) Clements; and three great grandchildren, Beth, Ellie, and Jack Jamison-Koenig.
