Patricia Dempsey Hayes

Patricia was the daughter of the late John P. E. and Lillian (Harrington) Dempsey. She was born in Boston and grew up in Newton.

After graduating from The Garland School of Art and studying at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School, Patricia worked as a commercial artist before turning her attention to printmaking. Her work reflected her love of horses, sailing and the sporting world. Ms. Hayes’ prize winning work was exhibited in galleries from New England to California. Her professional associations included The Copley Society of Boston, The Wellesley Society of Artists, and The Printmaker’s Forum.

She was also an accomplished equestrian, excelling at show jumping and dressage. Patricia loved playing tennis and was an active member of The Longwood Cricket Club for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John Dempsey, and sister, Elizabeth Smith.

She is survived by her husband, William J. Hayes Jr, her daughter Karen Hayes (Janet) and her son, William J. Hayes III (Jennifer) and her grandchildren Peter Donald Simmons-Hayes and Bryan William Simmons-Hayes.

No services are scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers donations may made in Patricia’s memory to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm.
