Kenneth E. "Bud" DeLong died peacefully on December 21, 2021. Bud was born in Schenectady, NY, son of Kenneth E. and Pearl Sager DeLong. He is survived by Lee, his wife of 68 love-filled years, his two sons, David (Ellen) and Tim (Laurel), four grandchildren, Benjamin (Jennifer), Zachary (Camille), Samuel and Avery and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Reeder of Rochester, NY.
Bud graduated from Bryant University in 1951. He was employed by General Electric for two years, prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force, during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he went to work for The Cape and Vineyard Electric Company for seventeen years. Then, in the early 1970's, Bud went into business for himself as a conservator, specializing in antique folk art restoration, that earned him an international reputation.
He was a member of The Federated Church of Hyannis, singing in their choir for fifty years. He was a member of Fraternal Lodge for 60 years and a member of The Hyannis Yacht Club for fifty years and a past trustee.
Bud was an accomplished sailor, loved golf, especially playing the game with his sons and grandsons and was musically gifted, proudly playing his cornet at many a sunrise service in Hyannis Port on Easter morning.
Bud was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humor. He will be remembered at a memorial service on January 8, at The Federated Church of Hyannis at 2pm.
It is the family's wish that, in lieu of flowers, any gifts be made to The Federated Church of Hyannis, MA.
