Jim was born and raised in Cambridge, MA and graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. He soon fell into the career of sales at Emerson Rug Company which later became Kent’s Carpetland in Hyannis. Jim was better known as “The Carpetman of Cape Cod,” selling and distributing flooring for all of Cape Cod from 1973 – 2015. In his younger years, he was involved with the Barnstable Babe Ruth League, inspiring children through coaching and umpiring. In retirement, he continued his flooring expertise by working side-by-side with Steve Luciani at Coachlight Carpets. Jim was an avid Celtics and Red Sox fan, enjoyed the sport of golf, and always chased “Lady Luck” with many trips to Foxwoods and his weekly poker group. Jim will be best known to his grandchildren as the “Best Papa Ever,” just hanging out with them or in a good round of Mini-Golf.
Jim leaves behind his caring son Ed Crowley and his wife Laurie of Hyannis, his sister Betty Ann Nomejko-Crowley of Hyannis and his two cherished grandchildren Jimmy and Samantha as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his beloved late wife of 31 years, Jim was preceded in death by his sister Barbara Rackcliffe and his brother Larry Crowley. He will be truly missed by all.
