Born in Faja de Cima, St. Michael, Portugal on August 14, 1932, he was the son of the late Higino Raposo Medeiros and Deolinda Oliveira Raposo. He relocated from Portugal to America in 1960.
Gil was a talented carpenter who built many houses on Cape Cod. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and growing grapes to make wine. He also liked watching soccer, hockey, and wrestling. Above all, his most cherished time was spent surrounded by family, particularly his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his wife, Maria, he is survived and will be deeply missed by his children Jose “Charlie” Raposo and his wife Melanie of Hyannis, Linda Raposo-Sheeder and her husband Travis of Hyannis, and Judy Barrigas and her husband Gus of Marstons Mills; five grandchildren, Cole, Lily, CJ, Joshua, and Ciara; his sisters Maria Kelley and her husband Frank of Florida, and Carmelia DaSilva and her husband Joe of Florida; as well as many cousins.
Gil was predeceased by his sisters Judite Lima in 2015, and Eulalia Furtado in 2018.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, December 19th from 3 to 7 p.m. at Doane Beal & Ames, Hyannis. His Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 20th at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory, Centerville. Burial will take place directly following in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville.
