He was raised in Macon, Georgia and graduated from Lanier High School where he lettered in 3 major sports. He attended Georgia Military College on a football scholarship and then chose to serve in the Air Force from 1956-1963. After his military service, he began working at Warner Robins AFB and then transferred to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville in 1965 to work at MICOM. During his years in Huntsville he was a faithful member of Lakewood United Methodist Church and coached many youth sports teams in the area. He retired from MICOM in 1992 and began his lifelong dream of becoming a fishing guide on Guntersville Lake. For 15 years he ran Tee's Guide Service and Cabin Rental and spent countless hours on the lake sharing his love of fishing with people from all over the country. He leaves behind a legacy for his friends and family of honor, integrity, loyalty, commitment, faith, a true love for sports and especially his love of his family and the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Nina Kitchens and his two sisters, Betty Davis (Ernest) and Patty Shores (Johnny).
Tee is survived by his wife of 62 years, Molly, whom he met when he was 16 years old and was the love of his life. He is also survived by his two children, Steve Kitchens (Dana) and Laurie Blevins (David); his grandchildren, Michael Kitchens, Sara Blevins, Travis Kitchens (Hannah) and Jacob Blevins (Claire) and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will take place on Monday, Dec. 16th from 3-5 pm at Lakewood UMC, 2614 Mastin Lake Road, Huntsville. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 17th at Lakewood UMC at 2:00 pm. The family will be available for a short time after the service to receive visitors. Memorial donations may be made to CASA of Madison County, Lakewood UMC or Hospice Family Care. The family would like to especially thank Tee's nurse, Michele, at Hospice Family Care for her dedication and compassion during his final days
