Vernon James McMillan was born October 23, 1927 and died March 17, 2022. He carried his analytical and problem-solving skills as a NASA engineer into all aspects of his life (designing a squirrel-proof bird feeder so Lois could enjoy watching birds peacefully eat in the back yard; maximizing how much cargo he could fit into the car for multiple cross-country trips; and collecting an inordinate number of cards yet somehow still winning the game). It was wonderful seeing how he absolutely loved taking care of our aging mom. Every possible day they went out for a lunch “date”, spending hours talking about life and enjoying each other’s company. After Lois passed, Vern stayed busy with family and friends. He enjoyed going out to eat lunch and made friends wherever he went. He generously and sacrificially gave to those in need. He looked forward to spending eternity with Jesus and family. He is survived by his daughters Kathleen Cole and Susan (Paul) Weaver, son Ken (Libba) McMillan, grandson Brian Cole, granddaughters Meredith (Bryan) Brock and Madeline (Krystian) Nowak, great-grandson Nathan Brock, and great-granddaughter Charlotte Brock. The family requests donations be sent to the charity of your choice. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.valhallafunerals.com for the McMillan family.
