Van Allen Edwards was born on November 4, 1971 in El Paso, Texas. The product of a military household, he and his family moved to several different
locations throughout the country before finally settling in Huntsville, Alabama in 1981. In 1989, he received his high school diploma from Westminster
Christian Academy where he was also a member of the basketball and soccer teams. From there he furthered his education at Wallace State and Calhoun
Community Colleges; and Athens State University where he studied Criminal Justice, Psychology, and Aviation. He later went on to enjoy a lengthy career
in the field of Logistics Operations.
Van was passionate about sports and was also an avid golfer. His charming wit and infectious sense of humor brought smiles to the faces of all those he
encountered. He loved God and his family.
Surrounded by family, Van passed from this life into the heavenly presence of God and his late father, John, on January 24, 2015. He is survived by his wife,
Theresa Wilson-Edwards of St. Louis, MO; his mother Jean Douglas Edwards; his siblings, Hubert (Sissy), Lemuel, and Melanie (Larry); his children,
Kurstan, Nickolett and Ilan-Mitchell of Alabama, Nicholas, Cameron and Alana of St. Louis, MO; his nieces and nephews, Jimmy Johnson (Carey), Jamal,
Taylor, and Kennedy; his grandchildren, Alaizaih and Zaylin; and his faithful beagle, Henry Allen Edwards. Funeral services will be held at Valhalla Funeral
Home at 3 pm on Thursday January 29.
