Theresa Little Smith, the daughter of William E. Little II and Peggy Little (deceased) was born on May 8, 1961 with her twin brother William E. Little III in Cleveland Ohio. Theresa went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 10, 2023 after facing many challenges with her health. The courageous way Theresa lived is what stood out to many. Her faith in God was strong and the example she modeled touched the lives of many she befriended and interacted with over the years.
She was educated at Tuskegee University in Alabama where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She held a career as a registered nurse that spanned four decades. Theresa for many years worked at Huntsville Hospital and later for the Huntsville Renal Clinic where she often mentored new nurses.
It was not unusual for those who knew her to stop by the house to share their favorite dish and listen to Motown classics while enduring smack talk during a game of spades. She did not like to lose; it goes without saying that she was very very competitive. She loved to solve puzzles and games. Theresa also enjoyed cooking and traveling. One of her favorite places to go to was the beach.
Theresa was a devoted wife, a loving mother, beloved sister and friend. She was a nurturing person and a mama figure for everyone. It didn’t matter if it was day or night, she would comfort, encourage, share pearls of wisdom and pray for whoever was in need.
She gave her life to the Lord at the age of 18 at Tuskegee, and was actively involved with the campus student ministry. She helped launch two churches in Huntsville, and later joined the Church of Highlands where she led and co-led Freedom groups.
Theresa will be remembered by her husband David H. Smith Jr. ; sons - Aaron Smith (Khadra), Quinton Smith (Kendra); daughters - Tiffany Gossett (Blake), Gabrielle Little Lee (Christopher)
Parents - William E. Little II (Jacqueline); siblings - William E. Little III (Franlly), Tina Little, Angela Little, Carmen Berry (Jeremiah), Eugene Little (Lisa), Danielle England (Bevin), and beloved nieces and nephews.
