Ralph, 

We’ve reached the 5 year mark since your departure to Heaven.  I spent this morning in a little garden that I’ve created for you with items you had in your yard or that I gave to you.  This provided a little sanctuary for me today as I videoed and made photos of what seem to be very domesticated “critters” in this setting.  Your mom had taught you how to create your own garden, and I learned so much from you the time we spent together as you continued the legacy. I will continue to do so for as long as I can! I truly feel closest to you there - it seems to bring your presence whenever I am there.  🙏🏼♥️🤗

That main picture of Ralph speaks so well of who he was, hand on his guitar, the other hand on his right hip. Some may not know Ralph spent years playing his guitar at an attraction in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. His classic pose would be remembered by many grieving families he helped - smartly dressed, but relaxed enough to put them at ease.
I was grateful for the opportunity to meet Ralph's amazing Family and observe the distinctive DNA. God be with all of you.

Not a day passes without thoughts of Ralph!  The memories are too numerous to share, but I agree with Red - each of you have captured the essence of him perfectly through your thoughtful reflections!!  I know he would be honored by them!  My sincerest condolences to Red, David,  Kenneth  and their families,  whom I have had the good fortune to know for most of my lifetime!  What a blessing!  Thank you for embracing me as your own through Ralph for the past ten years plus after we reunited.  The many shared moments sustain me now and always will!  Gone too soon, but he will never be forgotten!   Nothing but love for Ralph and his family!!  (I just know he’s got a front row seat in the heavenly band!!!)

This is so sad to hear. I remember when Ralph moved into Brookhaven midway through our high school years. He was a charismatic force of nature. One day he showed up in red keds and within weeks most of the boys at Brookhaven High were wearing them, even at graduation! Our radical statement! He and I became fast friends and formed a band, R&B Blues Showband, along with a few of our classmates (I remember Steve Yawn on the drums, maybe Rusty Yates on something, unsure). We played some standard some rock and blues favorites of the time, not always well.  Actually were paid a hundred bucks or so at a few events in the area, even though we really only knew about 10 songs. I lost track of Ralph but really miss him. Rest in Peace, Danny  Bowling



Thank you, one and all,  for the great tributes to Ralph.  From the rubbing of Mr. Roach's head at the high school graduation to his thoughtful contemplation of his hymn arrangements in numerous  churches, your memorials have captured the essence of his personhood.  He was a free spirit when free spirit was called for and serious Christian spirit when serious Christian spirit was called for.  

The many cards, phone calls, emails and visits testify to his universal acceptance of your friendship for which we are eternally grateful.

From the minute the Michels moved to Brookhaven I along with many others fell in love with them! Kenneth and Ralph immediately became my "brothers" and we spent many hours with other close friends at the Michel home! What a wonderful Christian environment we were surrounded with! Ralph, my heart breaks and I rejoice knowing eternity has gained an angel and I will see you and Alda and so many friends again one day!💖 I lift up Red, Kenneth, David and their  family to God for strength, comfort, and peace during this time.🙏💖🙏

My deepest sympathy to Bro. Red Michael, David, Kenneth and the entire family. I have many fond memories of Ralph from our high school days, going to church together, and the Sound Sensation. He was everybody’s friend, and had a talent for making everyone smile, regardless of how they were feeling. My favorite memory is one I only heard about. Ralph’s high school graduation when he rubbed Daddy’s (W. L. Roach, BHS Principal) bald head instead of shaking his hand. Daddy loved it, too. I’m sure that as soon as Ralph hugged Jesus in heaven and hugged his mother, I’m sure he rubbed my Daddy’s little bald head! Ralph was loved by many people. My love to all of you. 

Bro. Red. So sorry about Ralph!  He spent a lot of time at our house during the summer.  Theresia cooked lunch for him several times.  You didn't know that did you?  Where are you now?  Someone said that you are in Jackson.  Is that right?  Again so sorry about Ralph.   He was a clown.  He used to call my  phone at night and hang up!  I knew it was him because  then I would dial his number and his phone would be busy!  So sorry..  He will be missed I am sure!  If you are ever in this area come by and we will cook for you!  Again sorry about Ralph!

Ralph was one of the most delightful, happiest people I have known. I am sorry that the world has lost him. I look forward to seeing him laughing, singing and playing in Heaven . I can still see him in those red high top converse tennis shoes at graduation, which was a big dress code violation. Even Miss Ab couldn't get mad at Ralph. 
My prayers are with his family and close friends.

We will miss Ralph and his guitar playing. He was an absolutely wonderful musician and we enjoyed it when he got to play at University Baptist. His hymn arrangements were always lovely and heart-stirring. Our deepest condolences to his family.

I’m so very sorry to family and friends on your great lose. Ralph was my neighbor for years and would honk as he passed by if you were outside.  I will miss his friendly wave and honk.  Rest In Peace Ralph.

Loved growing up with Ralph. He kept our class laughing and made life so much fun. We were all rushed into the BHS auditorium during graduation after a flash flood surprised us on the football field. As he crossed the stage and Mr. Roach handed Ralph his diploma, he patted Mr. Roach’s bald head...always a clown, never disappointing. Rest In Peace, Ralph. 

Ralph was one of a kind.  He was funny, talented, and charming.  He had a way of making you feel special.  I only wish I had opportunities to get to know him better.  Taken too soon.  You will be missed, my friend.

Ralph made such beautiful music I was able to share with him as my good friend. My heart is heavy at losing him. He and his music will be greatly missed. It was a privilege to work with him over many years. He was a unique person who will be remembered for a long time by many, especially by his dear friend, Dianne.

My sincere condolences to his family, particularly to his Father and Brothers. May God be with you in His peace and comfort.

So sorry for your loss.  Ralph was special and had an unbelievable talent with his guitar.  The funeral business has always been our second family and Ralph and Gene worked together for years so he became family to us.  It hurts when you loose a family member so Gene and I grieve with you over this loss.  Many prayers to you all in the coming days!
