It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patrick Edward Lynch, who departed this life on October 5, 2023, just three days shy of his ninety-sixth birthday. Born on October 8, 1927, he lived a remarkable life filled with faith, family, love, and dedication.
Pat was the middle child of seven born to Minnie and Maurice Lynch. He was raised in Bristol, Tennessee, where he spent many years working on his uncle’s dairy farm, Lynch Dairy, with his three brothers. In 1955, he joined the Army where he was assigned to a land surveying team that took him out of the south to the western United States and ultimately to North Africa from 1957 to 1958. This peacetime military service gave Pat and Thelma lifelong friendships and many adventures that they enjoyed recalling often. In 1965, Pat relocated to Huntsville, Alabama with his wife and five children, where he embarked on a successful career as an electronics buyer. Pat was proud of the friendships that he formed and his contributions to the early manned space programs. Retired since 1990, he had a long and happy retirement full of golf, gardening, and grandchildren. Pat Lynch was a devout Catholic whose faith guided him through the ups and downs of life.
Pat was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-eight years Thelma Cross Lynch, his son Burton Lynch, and his six siblings. He is survived by four children: Maureen Gordon (Mike), Ramona Johnson (Vess), Stanley Lynch, and Paula Williams (Phil). His legacy extends to eleven grandchildren: Shaun Gordon (Chasity), Ryan Gordon (Abigail), Aaron Petersen (Lauren), Daniel Petersen (Alison), Jessica Thompson (Matt), Stephanie Johnson, Shannon Morey (Chris), Kate Williams, Mary Ailish Lynch, Kathleen Lynch, and Emma Lynch; and six great-grandchildren. All of whom were a constant source of pride and joy in his life. His extended family included many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; all of which he strived to maintain close relationships with through many family reunions in Bristol.
The family is deeply grateful to Pat’s caregivers, Stephanie Martin and Heather Cotton, for their loving and dedicated care during his time of need.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Valhalla Funeral Home and Memory Gardens from 4:00- 6:00 pm.
