Marlene Elizabeth Fellows

Marlene Elizabeth Fellows (Marty), 86, passed away on March 29, 2023 at her home in Huntsville, AL. She was born on October 8, 1936 in Louisville, KY to William Martin Mader and Amy Julia Beatrice Brown Mader.

Marty grew up in Louisville, KY, and graduated from Jefferson County High School. After high school she married and moved to Orange, VA. She lived in Orange for over 50 years, where she raised her three daughters and was an integral and selfless contributor to her community and church. She worked at Orange County High School, and at the North Anna Nuclear Plant in records management.

Marty married Donald C. Fellows in 1977 in Orange, VA. They were happily married for 46 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Huntsville, AL, although her heart was always with Kirk O’Cliff Presbyterian Church in Mineral, VA. Marty had a beautiful alto voice and loved singing in the church choir. She enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables and was a talented seamstress and cook.

Marty was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William Mader, Jr.

Marty is survived by her spouse Donald of Huntsville, AL; her daughters Susie (Al) Jones, of Huntsville, AL; Debbie (Jeff) Arco of Mechanicsville, VA; and Vicky (Ted) Denslow of Hanover, VA; her grandchildren Holly (Patrick) Lundy, Lesley (Billy) Steele, Travis (Lindsay) Dodds, Layne (Dan) Miller, Allison (Austin) Duffer and North Denslow; and her great-grandchildren Carson Williams, Parker Williams, Addison Lundy, Ava Lundy, Aaron Duffer and Amelia Miller.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in Huntsville in May and in Virginia this summer.
