Pastor Larry Gene Bishop

Pastor Larry Gene Bishop, our Uncle Larry, passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. He was born and raised in Huntsville, AL. He was a devoted husband to his wife, our Aunt Kathy, for 54 years. He was also a loving uncle to his nieces, nephews, great nephews, and numerous great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Hale Bishop; his parents, Glenn and Margie Bishop; and brothers, Jerry and Roger Bishop.

He is survived by his brother, Mike Bishop (Rhonda); nieces, Dale Jones (Dee), Vickie Stephens, Janet Jobe (Jeff), Markeyta Tate (Mark); nephews, Ricky Hillis, Charles White (Janice), Patrick Hale (April); and numerous great nephews and their families. Pallbearers: Patrick Hale, Joshua Tate, Grant Tate, Miles Tate, Chase Tate, and Hunter Tate.

Uncle Larry was an incredible, strong, and honorable man, who devoted his life to others. He has now been greeted on the doorsteps of Heaven where he heard, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” He is now sitting and singing praises with the Almighty, because he trusted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He is very loved and will be missed by many, but his legacy will live on through the many lives he has touched!

A special thanks to the family and friends who provided invaluable care and support for Uncle Larry over the years, and especially over the last few months.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 12:00PM to 1:00PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Road NE, Huntsville, AL 35811. Following the visitation will be the celebration of life service at 1:00PM at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel. Uncle Larry will be laid to rest with military honors in Valhalla Memory Gardens, Huntsville, AL.
