Ted was born in Martin, Kentucky on August 29, 1939 to Joseph R. Doke and Pearly J. Hambrick Doke. His parents and siblings preceded him in death.
Ted spent his life motivating others to work hard, persevere and fear nothing. He was a true mentor for those around him, especially his children and grandchildren; he loved downloading his extensive life resume to them. He was a six-year honorably discharged Veteran of the United States Army and a Medic with the 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY. Ted was the successful insurance man who had a knack for turning failing districts into successful districts and would rise throughout the company leadership ranks during his 20+ years with Prudential. He is the man we all call Husband, Dad and Grandpa … We love you to the moon and back!
Ted’s memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 59 years, Elaine Doke; sons, Joe Doke, Jr. (Julie) and Doug Doke (Jana); daughter, Roxana Zito (Joe); granddaughter, Lauren Zito (fiancé, Jamison Bissett); and grandson, Marc Zito.
The family will have a Celebration of Life and Inurnment Service on Saturday, April 11, 2020, which would have been the 60th Wedding Anniversary of Ted and Elaine. The announcement of the service place and time will come later.
