He was preceded in death by his mother Viola Davies, his father Elmer Jordan and stepfather George Davies, his brother Tony Jordan, his son Paul, and far too many of his lifelong friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary, his sons Gary Jr and Carl, his daughters-in-law Dalila and Aurora, and his granddaughters Hilda Grace and Jennifer.
Gary was best known for his business, Lake Machine Shop, in Guntersville Alabama. He began his lifetime profession of machinist when he was 13 years old. He attended Marshall County High School with dreams of a football scholarship but chose to stay in the family business instead. His hobbies after football included dirt bike racing, hunting, and especially fishing, all of which he won awards for or broke records doing. He enjoyed games of physical precision like bowling, and anything on the water, like canoeing and water skiing. And he had a natural skill at almost everything he tried.
His first love was his wife and family. But a very close second was his machine shop. If there was something he couldn't fix, he would just build a new one, made to last longer.
In recent years, no matter his workload or health, Gary could always be seen cheering at his granddaughters' various ball games.
The service will be on Thursday morning, December 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home in northeast Huntsville.
