Ernest Pharoll Williams was born in Norwalk, CT. He graduated from Norwalk High School, and then attended Howard University. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the US Army and achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3).
In July 1961, he and his beloved wife Gay were joined in holy matrimony. From their union, two beautiful children were born: Cheryl Joy, and Daryl Ernest.
Ernie, as his friends and family called him, did his basic training at Fort Dix, in New Jersey, and his tours of duty in Japan, Texas, North Dakota, Korea, and Vietnam. His last duty station was Redstone Arsenal, in Huntsville, Alabama. He retired after 22 years.
His favorite hobbies were fishing, gardening, and cooking. He was an excellent cook, and loved to share with his friends, family, and neighbors. Everyone who knew him remembers his infectious laugh and zest for life.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Gay Serronde of 56 years, two children; Cheryl Joy (Frederick) of Washington DC, Daryl Ernest (Jennifer) of Madison, Alabama, one sister; Alice Hicks, of San Jose, California, two grandchildren; Alex Scarboro and Collin Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
He will be missed.
