Rita J. Bickel

Rita J. Bickel 96 of Huntington went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday July 23, 2023 at The Waters of Huntington. Rita was a parishioner of S.S. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church. She graduated from Huntington Catholic High School and worked as a charge nurse at Miller’s Merry Manor for 30 years. Rita was an avid reader and enjoyed visiting with her children and grandchildren. She shared her love for others by volunteering at The Open Door Ministry and served with the Matthew 25 Group making lap robes for others. Rita was born on August 30, 1926 in Huntington the daughter of the late Eugene and Helen (Himbert) Ehinger. She was united in marriage to Robert Bickel on May 1, 1948. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons: Dean (Linda) Bickel of Cromwell, IN, and Shane (Karen) Bickel of Huntington; a daughter: Lauren (John) Adams of Huntington; a sister: Delores Lambrose of Phoenix AZ; 14 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons: Lee Bickel and Kim Bickel; a daughter: Robin Bickel; Five brothers: Arthur Ehinger, Edwin Ehinger, Richard Ehinger, Paul Ehinger and Robert Ehinger; and a sister: Eileen Carmichael. Visitation will take place on Friday July 28, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at S.S. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church. Located at 860 Cherry Street, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday July 28, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at S.S. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church located at 860 Cherry Street, Huntington IN 46750. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Huntington County. In lieu of flowers, preferred Memorials can be made out to S.S. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church for Masses in care of Myers Funeral Home 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN 46750.
