Joseph E Harris

Joseph Harris, 92 of Fort Wayne and formerly of Columbia City passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at his residence. Joseph was a 1948 graduate of Clear Creek High School. He worked for K-Mart for 41 years, retiring in 1992. Joseph spent 10 years in Kansas and the rest of his time in Fort Wayne. He was a member of Cornerstone Alliance Church in Roanoke, loved to play golf until he was 91and had taken several mission trips to Africa and Nicaragua.
Joseph was born on April 27, 1930 in Warren, Indiana, the son of the late Milo and Lucielle (Dalrymple) Harris.
He was united in marriage to Elsie L. Swales on July 6, 1949 in Huntington. She preceded him in death in 2006.
Survivors include a daughter: Julie (Tom) Wood of Columbia City, IN; three sons: Richard “Rick” (Pat) Harris of Columbia City, IN, Jeffery Harris of Spenser, IN and Ted (Sari) Harris of Muncie, IN; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Milo and Lucielle Harris, wife, Elsie Harris and an infant son, John Gregory Harris.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 10:00a.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
Interment will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
Memorial donations can be made out to Donor’s Choice of charity sent in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
