Jean Ann Ackerman

Jean Ann Ackerman, 94 of Huntington, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, November 14, 2023 at Envive Healthcare in Huntington. Jean Ann was a graduate of Huntington College, majoring in Fine Arts and had a passion for watercolor portraits. She worked at Huntington Memorial Hospital and retired as a respiratory therapist. Jean Ann was born on January 17, 1929, a daughter of the late Paul and Fay G. (Smith) Leonhardt. She was united in marriage to Robert Ackerman on October 5, 1947, in Huntington. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2008. Survivors include a son: Richard (Diane) Ackerman of Huntington and a daughter: Cynthia (Tom) Avery of Kalamazoo, MI; four grandchildren: Matthew Ackerman of Huntington, IN, Erica Ackerman of Warsaw, Becky (Javery) Smith of Arlington, TX and Austin (April) Ackerman of Lawrenceburg IN and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a grandchild: Christopher Bangs. A private family service will be held at a later date.
