Janet L. "Jan" Fitch

Janet L. “Jan” Fitch, 86 of North Manchester and formerly of Huntington passed away on January 8, 2022 at Peabody Retirement Community. Jan was a 1953 graduate of Urbana High School. She had worked at Triad-Utrad/Magnetek for several years and also at E-Systems Memcor for ten years. She was owner of Jan’s Vinyl Repair and was a cashier at Johnson’s Junction. Jan was a 25 year member of Mirians Rebekkah’s Lodge #37 in Andrews and was a past Noble Grand. She was an avid bowler for over 25 years. Jan had a green thumb and loved gardening, crafting, woodworking, she made a lot of gifts for her family and friends over the years. Since 1953 she was a huge collector, especially Mickey Mouse. She was a hardcore IU Basketball fan. Jan was born on September 20, 1935 in Huntington, the daughter of the late Elmer and Dorthy (Day) Rice. Survivors include two sons: Tim (Cindy) Fitch of Warren, Edwin (Lori) Fitch of North Manchester; two daughters: Pamela Taylor of Knoxville, TN, Jane (Mike) Clark of North Manchester; nine grandchildren: Nichole Eckert, Amanda (Troy) Boyer, Shayna Taylor, Jill (Nikhil) Bagga, Jarod (Brittany) Fitch, Caley (Brodie) Stith, Ian (Taylor) Fitch, Kassie, and Tommy (Hannah) Torpy III; 21 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a brother: Larry Rice. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. We will be following the CDC’s and Indiana’s Health guidelines. Funeral service will follow the visitation on Friday, January 14, 2022 at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date at the Saint Peters Cemetery in Urbana, Indiana.
