William C. “Bill” Exley died on Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Delaware Valley Veterans Home in Philadelphia. He was 91 years of age. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude Schlack Exley. Bill was an Oakford resident since 1952.
Mr. Exley was the Assistant Post Master of the Somerton Post Office. He was an Army veteran serving in the European Theater and a member of the R. Keith Anderson Memorial VFW Post 9765 in Oakford.
Bill was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Feasterville. He served the church as a member of the Church Counsel, Chairman of the Finance Committee, and as an usher. He was also a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troupe 76 at the Church and was an adult advisor for the Church Youth Group. Bill was also a member of Houseman Lodge # 211 F & AM.
Bill was the beloved husband of Dolores M. Crabtree Exley for 68 years. He was the devoted father of William J. Exley (the late Susan) of Trevose and Brad A. Exley (Elizabeth) of Langhorne, and Lore Rohre (John) of FL. He was also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 8:30 AM to 9 AM at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 65 E. Street Road, Feasterville. His service will be at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
