Judy was the youngest daughter of William Allen and Goldie Helen Lamley Garrison. Growing up with 5 brothers and 6 sisters, Judy had many protectors. She made good grades in school and still had report cards to prove it. She was not much into drinking but did at times and would always be up for a night out. She loved her brothers and sisters dearly. She missed Uncle Bob, he was a police officer and was killed while on duty, often mentioning him to us while we were growing up. Judy was very active in sports at school and had many friends throughout her time at school. The comments her classmates left in her yearbooks were all amazing reads.
Judy Sue Garrison married John Lee Peck on February 15th, 1963. They were married for over 55 years and had 3 children together, Lisa Joe, John Lyndell, Wesley Allen. She had 3 children, Lisa Jo, John Lyndell and Wesley Allen Peck. She loved them all more than anything in the world. Judy often would go without and sacrifice just so she could get them a toy or something they wanted. There was nothing she would not do. I know, being one of her sons. No matter what trouble I was in, my momma would be there for me, no matter what I did wrong. That is not to say she was easy on us. She kept a tight leash, as much as any parent can. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all learned and are better people from the wisdom and knowledge she passed to them. Her eldest child Lisa Jo Peck has two children Joseph Layne and Kimberly Anne. Joseph Layne is married, his wife is name Lisa, and they have a daughter named Adalynne. Kimberly Anne is married, her husband is Dennis, and they have two children, Kaydin and Adam. Judy's middle child is me, John Lyndell, a confirmed bachelor. Her youngest son, Wesley Allen, was married. He has two children Tayler Marie and Sloane Leanne. A while back ago, her husband's son from a prior marriage came back into their lives, he became a part of the family, a son, a brother to us all. His name is Jimmy Peck, his wife is Blanche Barnes. Jimmy and Blanche have 4 children, Christiana Lynn, Jamie Lynn, Shane Patrick and James Alan.
Judy Sue loved going to flea markets and garage sales with her husband Johnny Lee and her children. The house contains many memories of those trips, from records, fluorescent signs, and coke machines. Although she might have said, Pop machines when she was younger. She always had her hosier accent, but after a long life in Texas, the southern words and slang were often used. The house is filled with 1,000s of old vintage records, 45s and albums. She loved music of all kinds. Once she was cleaning house, Guns and Roses was blasting out of a stereo. Her son John came in, turned it down and started to change the music. Judy said hey what are you doing. John said, changing the station, you like this. She replied it is not the radio, it is a CD, my CD, I do like it that is why I bought it.
Judy was also a avid reader, she loved science fiction, and mystery books. Her favorite authors were Robert Heinlen, Mario Puzo and Isaac Asimov. One of her favorite books was "Stranger in a Strange Land" and "I Robot". She instilled the love of reading in her son John, he was grounded often and she would let him read her books. She would not let John read the "Exorcist" back then though, said it was to scary and he would have to read it when he was older.
Judy and Johnny would often take their kids to Indiana for visits and other different places. From Lion Country Safari, Carlsbad Caverns, Washington, D.C., Roswell, NM, or day trips to Galveston Texas. She and her husband made sure the kids saw some of the world growing up. She and her husband were also big movie fans. They would take the children to the drive in theater often. Once to see all five Planet of the Ape movies at once. They had a Pinto and her husband filled the entire car with bags of pop corn. He took almost 2 hours popping it all.
While raising her children Judy worked to give them a good life. She worked in restaurants, hotels, and had a career at the U.S. Postal Service working as clerk and mail carrier. Judy worked hard to help provide for the family. Through it all she always made time to care and love for her children.
Judy was an amazing mother and cared for all of her children. She and her husband late in their years took in their special needs great grandchild Kaydin at a difficult time. The day came and Kaydin went to live with his mother Kimberly, her husband Dennis Catino and grandmother Lisa Peck. Judy's love and Kaydin's love for her was truly something special. Family was always first, no matter what the issues were. The love and care she had for her family will be missed, and always felt.
Judy Sue was unique, the mold was broke and there will never be another like her. She had an amazing life, a good life and is dearly missed.
