Christine Chapin Howard of Houston, Texas passed away peacefully at home on January 25, 2022, at the age of 70. Born in San Antonio Texas, her father’s occupation as a seismologist took her as a youth to many parts of the world including Australia, Singapore, England, and Algeria. She attended University of Houston graduating with a math degree and settled down in Houston. Her career as an IT professional and project manager included positions with Pullman Inc., M. W. Kellogg, Dowell Schlumberger, Transco, Williams Cos, Williams Communications, and finally Invensys.
Her passion besides her children was in politics. A member of the proverbial ‘grass roots’, she was a precinct chairman for many years, an avid block walker and of that rare breed who enjoy political conventions.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Betty Howard. She is survived by her husband Russell Beutlich, her children Eric Beutlich (Anna), Carla Robillard (Jared), her grandsons James Beutlich, Rolf Beutlich, and Augustine Robillard, her sister Susan Rutherford (Michael), her brothers John Steven Howard (Penny), and James Duncan Howard (Renee) and numerous nieces and nephews.
With a pleasant gentle demeanor and always eager to leap into the fray, Christine was a good Catholic, tireless worker, caring mother, and her husband’s best bud. She will be dearly missed.
