She was born in Houston, TX to parents Ola Mae (Lawrence) Mack and Lewis Haskell Mack, Sr., and was raised in Navasota, TX.
Bobbie graduated from George Washington Carver High School, in Navasota, later attended Prairie View A&M University where she received a Certificate of Secretarial Science.
Bobbie met Bennie Ray Austin at Prairie View A&M. They fell in love and were married on June 12, 1965. After their graduation they moved to Los Angeles, CA. Bennie accepted a job at Carnation Co. and Bobbie in banking. Eventually, she started a career at Carnation Co. working as the Executive Assistant for the Director of Engineering and staff. That was the beginning of their 44 years of partnership until he preceded her in death in June 2009.
Bobbie had many happy memories in both Southern and Northern, California. She and Bennie were fortunate to have friends that were more like family to help enhance their overwhelming joy. Just to name a few: Every, Ted, Joann, Charles, Jimmie, Barbara, Don, Ed, Carolyn, Terry, Sharon, Mike, Ann, Evelt, Carol and Magnolia; she always felt blessed beyond measure for their friendship with the Nelson family (Clark and Betty) of Carnation Co. Bobbie continued her zest for life, and sharing her outgoing radiance upon returning to Texas in 2006 she met friends who were faithful to her until her last days. There was Rhonda, Gail, Abby, Angela, Earline, Bobbie, and Mr. Wifie. The people who remembered her on her 81st birthday were many from near to far. She was a people magnet. She had a likeable and winning personality which complimented Bennie's affable and quiet nature. They were meant to be. Bobbie and Bennie!
Bobbie and Bennie were members of both Turlock (CA) and Kingwood (TX) Country Clubs where they played weekly rounds of golf together. This allowed her to give support to charitable causes that were dear to her heart. For a season, she held the title of President for Turlock CC women's league. She was not only a player, yet was also asked to serve on a rules committee for Northern CA women's golfers. She was simply a sports enthusiast; a spectator of most sports, however, golf was her passion. Bobbie was especially proud of her 'Hole In One' at Turlock CC. Her other favorite hobbies were bowling, bridge, fishing, and a lively game of poker.
Bobbie lived life well and added something special to her children's lives, and that of her grandchildren and entire family. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed preparing a feast of foods at holidays, however, most times seemed like a holiday when it came to her delicious meals.
Bobbie loved to have parties to entertain friends and family. And, if there was music playing she was dancing - she loved to dance.
