Robert Evan Hastings

Robert Evan Hastings, age 89, of Modesto, California passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022 after a difficult battle with Alzheimer's. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lila Hastings; sisters, Betty Denny, Gwen Taylor, Esther Littlefield, and Carol Hastings. Robert is survived by his wife of 71 years, Donna Hastings, his son Ron Hastings (Marilyn) and daughter Dana Russell (Ken), 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great - great - grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Kathy Tuchalski as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert loved building things. Musical instruments, airplanes and small engines were among the many items he enjoyed building. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping out with his family and friends. Robert loved spending time with people and teaching them something interesting or entertaining them with his music. Robert was born May 31, 1933 in Thayer KS. He and Donna moved to California in 1952 and to Modesto in 1959 to join the Modesto Fire Department where he served for 27 years.

A visitation service will be a visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at Lakewood Funeral Home, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326. A graveside service for Robert will be held Friday, September 23, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lakewood Memorial Park, 900 Santa Fe Ave, Hughson, CA 95326.
