Margaret B. Whitmer

Margaret Whitmer passed away at her home in Modesto on March 27, 2013. She was born in Big Lake, Texas on May 3, 1931 to Carl and Nancy Alexander. She was one of seven children. Margaret moved to Ceres, California with her family before starting high school, later she moved to Modesto. She and her husband, Don, enjoyed traveling and after she retired from John Ingalls Frozen Foods, they sold their home and became full time RVer's. They traveled through the U.S. for five years, but when Don passed away she returned to Modesto. She was a very active member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Margaret was also a longtime volunteer at the Stanislaus County Health Services Agency. She is preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, Alton, "Jiggs," Donnie, Lonnie and Rick Alexander, and husband, Don Whitmer. Margaret is survived by her 3 children, Lana (Ron) Cheatham of Lincoln, CA, Lynn (Doug) Higgs and Lee (Sue) Whitmer all of Modesto, sister, Pauline (Erv) Daugherty of Chattanooga, Tennessee. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew her. Funeral services will be held at Lakewood Funeral Home in the Heritage Chapel, 900 Santa Fe Ave., Hughson CA. 95326. Visitation on Thursday, April 4 from 9-11am and Funeral Service on Thursday, April 4 at 11am.
