Kenneth L. Anderson died peacefully in the early hours of July 14, at Hospice House. He was born to Alma Amelia Huckfeldt and Clarence Anderson on May 28, 1932 in Cambridge, Nebraska.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol, 1 child, Charles “Tony” Anderson (Cathy) of Vacaville, CA., 2 grandsons, Curtis Salery of Modesto, CA and Anthony Anderson, currently in Japan, teaching English, 2 step grandsons, Thomas Tryon (Jessica), and Christopher Tryon, both of Vacaville, and 2 step great grandsons, L.T. and William.
His mother and father, 7 brothers and 1 sister and one child, Kelly Anderson, have preceded him in death.
He grew up in Veteran, WY. and later moved with his family to Torrington, Wy., where he attended his high school years and graduated in 1951.
He loved playing and watching all sports and spending time with family. When he graduated from high school he played for the minor league baseball team in Florida, until he joined the Army. His major sport and passion was playing golf. Ken was a veteran as he served in the Army from 1953 to 1955. He was stationed at Fort Riley, KS. and Fort Campbell, Ky. He spent a lot of time in the kitchen and on the playing field, whatever the sport might have been.
He attended and received his BA from Colorado State College in Greeley, CO in 1959 and taught at Bridgeport, NE. He taught at Bridgeport High School in the Social Studies Department and was a coach for the “B” basketball team and assistant coach for the football team. He spent his summers pursuing his Master’s degree and graduated from Colorado State College with his Master’s degree in 1961.
He met his wife, Carol at Colorado State College and they were married, while both were continuing their education at Greeley, CO. After teaching in Nebraska for 2 years they moved to Dinuba, CA where Ken continued to teach and coach. Moving to Modesto, CA found Ken teaching in the Social Studies Department at Modesto Junior College. His career changed in 1964 into insurance where he remained until retiring.
He spent many hours traveling with his wife in their “toy hauler” where they spent hours viewing the remote sites throughout California, enjoying the sand hills and parts of the USA riding on their ATVs. Ken was a coach for little league, umpired for baseball games, board member for Turlock Golf and Country Club, active in claims association clubs, and facilitator for Nar-a-Non-support group. Ken is a member of the Community of Christ, Modesto and has served as a pastor and servant of Jesus Christ in many capacities..
