Amy was born on August 27, 1970 to Tom and Sharlene Dickens in Modesto, California. She graduated from Beyer High School in 1988. Amy went on to graduate from California State University, Fresno in 1992 and received her master’s degree in Special Education. Her first teaching position in Special Education was in Raisin City, California and then at Garrison Elementary School in Modesto. For the past 8 years, Amy has been employed as an Impact Program Support Supervisor at Teachers College of San Joaquin.
In 1996 Amy married and was blessed with three beautiful daughters Chloe, Gracie, and Ellie. She loved having her home filled with the girl’s friends and being a mama to many. She had a gift of making each and everyone feel special.
Amy was a lifelong member of the First Baptist/Cross Point Church in Modesto. She is an alumnus of Kappa Alpha Theta and an active member of Omega Nu in Modesto. Amy loved the Lord and was considered by all who knew her to be kind, considerate and a loving friend.
She is survived by her three daughters, Chloe (22) Gracie (19) Ellie (16), her parents Tom and Sharlene Dickens, brothers Joey Dickens (Amy), Kenny Dickens (Lindsay), 3 nephews, and 3 nieces. She also leaves behind many cousins, aunts, uncles and her beloved dog Jax. Along with, many tremendously beloved friends.
Services will be held Monday, April 19th at Big Valley Grace Community Church, 4040 Tully Road Modesto at 10:00 AM. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery, Hughson at 1:00 PM. Amy believed in helping those in need, so in lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. A scholarship is being established in her name to assist in furthering the education of teachers majoring in Special Education. Donations may be made to TCSJ Student Scholarship in the name of Amy Dickens Taylor. Checks may be made out to SJCOE EF, P.O Box 213030 Stockton, California, 95213-9030.
