Yvonne Weathersby Cross

Sister Yvonne Cross was born on March 31, 1954 in Tomball, Texas to Thomas and Bessie Weathersby plus ten brothers and sisters. She graduated from Carver High School in 1973. She pursued cosmetology school and a career in hair and beauty. She was introduced to the Jehovah’s Witness Faith at eighteen and started studying the bible with Marjorie Johnson. She was baptized in 1985 dedicating herself to the Lord. She remained strong in faith until she left the Earth. Yvonne served as one of Jehovah’s servants for many decades. She attended Acres Homes, Pinemont, Northwest, Vietnamese and Lakewood congregations during her time in Houston. She often traveled to and attended circuit and international assemblies including California, Louisiana, New York, Oklahoma, and Mexico. She enjoyed sewing, reading books, and traveling with friends.

Yvonne retired from Lone Star College after 23 years of hard and prosperous work and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Office Administrative Management in Career Assistance. She loved serving and helping people with learning God’s word and helping others find secular careers. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother who truly loved her grandchildren, aunt, sister and loyal friend. She will be truly missed by all who encountered her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years Larry Cross, her sons, Londell Cross and Arvin Cross, her daughter Jesseca Cross, her grandsons Brayden Cross, Gabriel Galan and Jadon Galan, her granddaughter Safiyah Galan, and a host of brothers, nieces, nephews, relatives, in laws, friends, and spiritual brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Weathersby and Bessie Barlow Weathersby, her sisters Velda Bonner, Gracie White, Gwendolyn Williams and Joyce Boone, her brother Jesse Weathersby, her nephew Timothy White, her in-laws Arneice Cross and William Cross, her brother in law Curtis Cross, and her sister in law Deborah Wallace.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her brothers, Samuel Weathersby Sr., John Weathersby, Lawrence Weathersby, Allen Weathersby, Jesse Weathersby, and Thomas Weathersby Jr.

A visitation for Yvonne will be held Friday, May 13, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A funeral service will occur Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A reception will occur Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
