Yun Sup Kim

Yun was born on June 3, 1947 in South Korea to Dong Seung Kim and and Sun Hee Son. Yun left South Korea on August 14, 1972 and landed in Louisville, Kentucky, where he went on to receive a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Louisville in 1976. He also earned his Master of Divinity in August 2004 from Kingsway Bible College. He married Durk Kim on August 27, 1977. As newlyweds, Yun and Durk lived in El Paso, Texas until they moved to Houston in 1979, where they continued to live until his passing. He enjoyed traveling and watching movies, mixing the two interests to write movie reviews for local newspapers. He published four books, taking his perspectives on Christianity to review various genres of films. He was also passionate about helping other Korean natives overcome language barriers to successfully transition to life in America.

Yun is survived by his wife of 41 years, Durk Kim, his children, Rebecca and Daniel and his granddaughter, Eliza. He will be notably remembered by his friends and family for his impressive memory.

A visitation in memory of Yun will take place on Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079. A funeral service and burial will take place the following day on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 10:00 at the same location.
