Yolanda Hughes, 79, died in her home in Houston, Texas with Hospice care after her battle with Dementia.
Born in Mercedes, Texas, she was the daughter of Crispin Vasquez Sr. and Antonia Vasquez.
Yolanda was a genuine person that never had to make up a story because she was so honest. She valued her integrity, her husband and family. She was a very strong woman and always made the best decisions in life. Yolanda was a happy go lucky individual that loved life and made every effort to make the best of any situation. Her personality was one that made an impact when you first met her. She was charming, sophisticated and a very caring person.
She was a smart hard working woman. When she was still at home in Mercedes, Texas, she worked for Doctor Gonzalo Caballero and was taught to work by his side. Years later she worked for the Southwest Houston Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic. There after she decided to do something that she enjoyed and became a florist for Randall's grocery and Target. Yolanda also worked and retired from the Fort Bend School District.
Yolanda loved to garden and had the most amazing green thumb. She loved to create floral arrangements. She loved to cook, dance, and had a love for music. She would come over to our homes and rearrange things. So, when she left, she left a piece of her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Crispin Vasquez Sr., mother, Antonia Vasquez, brother, Pedro “Pete” Vasquez and brother, Crispin Vasquez, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Donald Hughes, son, Rolando Hernandez, daughter-in-law, Serafina Hernandez, grandson, Rollie Jacob Hernandez, sisters, Ofelia Barron, Odilia Garcia, Estella Phillips, Luz Shafiee, Gracie Martinez, and brothers, Omar Vasquez and Romel Vasquez.
