Bill worked for Chevron Oil from 1951 to 1962. From 1962 to 1979, he was employed by Signal Oil & Gas, which was purchased during this time by Burma and later, R.J. Reynolds. He began working for Pennzoil in 1979. In 1992, he retired as President of Pennzoil Exploration and Production Company. Throughout his life, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Schell; and his stepsons, Hugh L. “Bubba” Mattox and Nathan Mattox. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Ruby; children, Carol Lohmeier, Cathy Schell, Bill Schell Jr. and his wife, Sharon, Charlie Schell and his wife, Audrey; grandchildren; Gary Lohmeier, Trey Schell, Sarah Schell, and Rachel Schell; brothers, John Schell and his wife, Flo and Jim Schell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends were cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 17th of August, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The funeral service is to be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 18th of August in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.
The interment is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
All are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced during the services.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be directed to The Brookwood Community, 1752 FM 1489, Brookshire, TX, 77423; or to the charity of one’s choice.
