William H. “Bill” Nichols IV, PE, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed peacefully from this world to be with the Lord on March 17, 2010, surrounded by his family. Born July 27, 1942 in Amarillo, Texas to Preston Robinson Nichols and Ruth Steer Nichols. He graduated from Amarillo High and Texas A&M University, Class of 1964, with a Bachelor of Science with Honors. He began his career with Westinghouse (now Siemens) and moved to Houston in 1971. There he obtained his Masters in Electrical Engineering from U of H. Siemens recently honored him for 45 years of outstanding service. Bill’s passion was his work, studying history and reciting poetry to anybody who would listen. Bill and the love of his life, Judie Holt Nichols, were married 47 years. He was a member of I-EEE and Fairhaven United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by his parents, nephew Paul Nichols, and sister-in-law Diane Fisher. Survived by his wife, Judie, daughter Ruthanne Schulte (husband Matt), son Nick Nichols (wife Lollie), four grandsons, Patrick and Nathan Schulte, Will Nichols and Cody Ramirez, and one great granddaughter Katelyn, brother Nick Nichols (wife Carole), and extended family in Texas and California. The family wishes to thank his caregivers, MD Anderson, and Hospice Care, special neighbors, and church family. A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held March 20, 2010 at 2:00 pm. at Fairhaven United Methodist Church, 1330 Gessner, Houston, Texas.
