William Henry Maier, affectionately known as "Bill", passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020. Bill was born December 20, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, to William Henry Maier, Jr. and Gwendolyn Eloise (Allison) Maier.
Bill graduated from Midwood High School and attended Brooklyn College, the United States Merchant Marine Academy, the United States Naval Postgraduate School, and the University of West Florida. He served his country in the United States Navy for 26 years, retiring at the rank of Commander. While stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii, he met his wife, Sharon Muller, and they were married at Naval Station Pearl Harbor on May 28, 1960. Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon G. (Muller) Maier; his son, William Henry Maier IV and his wife, Sarah, of Lawrenceville, GA; his daughter Allison G. (Maier) New and her husband, Gregory, of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Bennet, Julia, Will, and Allison. He is also survived by his sister, Gwendolyn Fox and brother-in-law, Philip, of New York City; brother-in-law Jackson Muller and wife Kimberly Mai, of Springfield, Virginia, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
