William “Bill” Clifton Hudson met his savior on February 25, 2017, barely a month after the passing of his wife, Darrylin Wolfe Hudson. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on October 14, 1932. After graduating from Fair Park High School in 1950, he served in the U.S. Navy. He met his beloved “Dee” at the First Baptist Church in Shreveport and married her in 1952. Bill began working for Texas Eastern Corporation that same year, came to Houston with the company in 1974, and retired thirty-seven years later in 1989.
Bill was a runner, cyclist, and hunter. He loved LSU football. As a young man, he would take the train to Baton Rouge for the games. He rarely missed a televised game. With a deep love for animals, he operated his own neighborhood rescue effort, adopting any stray dog under five pounds. Bill also loved camping, much to the dismay of his wife and daughter.
Bill is survived by his three children, Ronald Clifton Hudson, Lisa Hudson Overbey, and Darryl Wayne Hudson, and his grandson, William Chad Hudson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darrylin, and his grandchildren, Emily Elisabeth Overbey and John William Overbey.
Services will be held Thursday, March 2 at 10:00 am, at Spring Baptist Church, 633 East Louetta Rd, Spring. Interment will be at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Fwy, with a reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in his memory to the Vision 2020 Fund at Spring Baptist Church. Bill’s children wish to give special thanks to the staff at Northwest Medical Center in Houston.
