William (Bill) John Duffy Sr., age 81, of Cypress, TX, died Tuesday morning July 23, 2013 peacefully at his home. Born September 20th, 1931, in Des Moines, IA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lovina Duffy.
Bill graduated from Dowling High School in Des Moines, and attended Iowa State University where he met his loving wife of 56 years, Martha Ann Tee, and they raised 7 wonderful sons.
Bill served in the Korean War as an Army MP, and upon his return enjoyed a successful career in the vending and food service industry, most recently with Fresh Brew Group of Houston. Bill started in the Knights of Columbus at 18, and earned the highest knighthood, 4th Degree Knight. He also deeply enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing cards with his boys, grandchildren whenever possible. Until recent years, Bill was extremely active as a parishioner and Eucharistic minister at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Cypress, TX.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Martha; son Bill Jr., wife Patti (Watson) Duffy, grandchildren Kate and Ryan; son Tom, wife Elizabeth (Hausman) Duffy, grandchildren Kyle, Luke and Grace; son Robert, wife Debbie (Sharp) Duffy, grandchildren Shannon, Connor and Tierney; son John, grandchildren Allison and Jeremy; son Brian, wife Lisa (Strickland) Duffy, grandchildren Melissa and Taylor Strickland; son Joseph, wife Lee ( Garrity), grandchildren Leah and Julie; son Michael, wife Ashley (Lyons) Duffy, grandchild Keegan. Additionally, Bill is survived by his sister Katie Watterson of Tucson, AZ, and countless nieces, nephews and relatives.
Visitation will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church (chapel), 11507 Huffmeister Rd., Houston, TX 77065 (281) 469-5533, between 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday July 26th. The Funeral Mass, celebrating Bill’s life will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church on Saturday July 27th at 9:30 a.m. Burial ceremony will take place at the Houston VA National Cemetery in Houston, TX, at 9:30 a.m., Monday July 29th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church.
