William Geoffrey Cummings

William “Will” Geoffrey James Cummings, 64, passed away peacefully at his home in Houston, Texas, on August 4th, 2021, culminating a 16-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 43 years, Maria Del Carmen (Boves) Cummings (61), and his two children, Sarah Gabriella (Cummings) Kouliavtsev (34) and Anthony David Cummings (29).

Will was born in Yankton, South Dakota on December 16, 1956. He was an accomplished architect, his most notable project being the Holocaust Museum Houston. He single-handedly created the construction drawings by hand, more accurately than today’s computers. Will was a walking calculator, encyclopedia, and juke box. On the weekends, if he wasn’t taking a nap, you could find him reading novels or watching sports. He loved nature and animals, adopting cats and counting caterpillars in the garden. A humble man, Will enjoyed the simple things in life and he will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

Will is survived by his wife, Maria Del Carmen (Boves) Cummings and two children Sarah Gabriella (Cummings) Kouliavtsev and Anthony David Cummings; son-in-law, Mikhail Kouliavtsev; grandson Aleksandr William Kouliavtsev; sisters, Ann Cummings and Elisabeth Cummings; nieces and nephews, Peggy Fleury, James and Betsey (Walker) Culliton, Laura (Culliton) and Tody Castillo, Brendan and Cory (Galik) Cummings, Nicolas Roy, as well as many great-nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a memorial service at Garden Oaks Funeral Home, 13430 Bellaire Blvd in Houston at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 24th. The service also will be live-streamed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HepgM6_bAsM.
