Ed is survived by his wife, Wanda Farmer Adkison; daughters, Anita Adkison and Angela Adkison Guzman; son-in-law, Ruben Guzman; nephew, Christoper Farmer; brother, Herbert Adkison and wife Marla; grandchildren, Leandra, Celeste and Joshua Guzman; 4 nephews and 1 niece; other family and loving friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Adkison and Mary Eloise West Adkison; sister, Mary Helen Lawson; and brother, John David Adkison.
Ed was born on March 21, 1949 in Mansfield, LA, to Hubert and Lois Adkison. He graduated from Smiley High School in 1968. He married Wanda Lou Farmer, his high school sweetheart, in 1970. He worked for US Gypsum for 25 years and worked his way to the position of Paper Mill Production Foreman.
Ed was a devoted family man. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his wife, children and grandchildren. He enjoyed cars, fishing, loved a good barbecue, and was an accomplished handyman. His generosity was felt in the community as he helped many of his neighbors through hard times and with his handyman skills.
More recently, Ed was accomplished at television viewing and often changed the channel. He was a funny, generous, hungry individual who loved to patronize many local eating establishments, and was passionate about food.
Ed, Mr. Ed, Uncle Ed, Daddy, Papa was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend and neighbor. He will be greatly missed by all.
The memorial service is scheduled at Brookside Funeral Home on May 15, 2015, at 1pm. A reception will follow at the same location between 1:30pm and 2pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ed’s life.
