To the Whitmire family: We are so very sorry to hear about your father.  I worked with him in the 80's and never remember a time when he didn't have a smile or positive thought.  He never had a cross word about anybody.  Being new to (W), he always took the time to answer my many questions and taught me so much about the company.
   Over the years we kept in touch and enjoyed having him and Magda over for dinner when he was in California.  I'll miss his funny e-mails, his positive outlook on life, and his easy laugh.  What a gentle and caring man and someone that was very proud of his sons.  
   Our deepest condolences to the family.  Wally, we will miss you...rest in peace my friend.

Wally Whitmire... a wonderfully considerate, loving & true person.  Family came first, always!  We meet @ Westinghouse Electric 3 decades ago and it only seems like yesterday.  Always smiling or laughing, totally contagious!  Hoping Wally's family & friends will take his legacy & live by it forever.  My deepest sympathy at this difficult time.

I worked with Wally at Westinghouse back in the 80s...  He was never too busy to help me out when I had a problem and always had this greatest smile...  Very smart guy that everyone liked...  My condolences to his family and loved ones...  I know he will be missed a great deal...

You probably do not remember me, but your mother was my step sister.
It has been many years since we have seen you when you lived off Rt 14 between Pine valley and Midway.

We remember the devotion and love he gave when he cared for your mother during her many trials with her kidney problems. He also was very loving to your mother's step mother, (my mother) Miriam

Tim, Greg and Allen - Uncle Wally was a terrific guy. He was a guy that always made you happy to be family. We'll all miss him even those who didn't get much time with him over the last few years. I'll remember the last time I saw all you guys together in Vegas. I know from experience this difficult time but I hope his fond memories will be a consolation. Lets all stay in touch. Some of us aren't teens anymore!! Love you guys!

I can confidently say that Wally was one of the gems of this world--his light shone brighter than almost any. I am grateful to have been graced by the friendship and kindness of this most generous and loving man during his time on Earth. It will be a sadder planet without him, but I am consoled by knowing that his spirit of generosity and joy will be carried forward by those he left behind.

Greg, it is with deep sadness that I received word of Wally's passing. I worked with your dad at Westinghouse Horseheads, NY for six years. We shared many good times together and with Don Hafler always reaped a bountiful harvest at his vegetable garden. We never did, however, devise a good way to shell black walnuts which were always in good supply at his house. I have saved many of his emails filled with good wholesome memories of the era when we were growing up and always laced with the subtle humor that lightened our load of growing old. I'll miss the annual Whitmire Family Annual Report and the latest happenings with you and your brothers. I loved receiving and sending emails to him and always marveled at how much better I got to know him thanks to this great modern invention, email.  He was, indeed, a kind soul and I will miss him greatly.  His three sons are his great legacy and I know he's smiling with pride.

Your dad and I are cousins,and great pc friends too,he always left me laughing,I lost my husband in 2003 to cancer,so I know it is hard to give them up,but please remember he is in great hands now,no pain,sorrow or tears.May God be with you in your time of sorrow.

Both my brother and I are unable to attend the funeral but Wally was such a wonderful person and step-grandpa.  He took us in as family right away and always made us feel we were no different than any of his other grandchildren.  We will miss him and his wonderful hugs!

My heart goes out to you. With great saddness my father passed away last year and I understand. I talked with your father a few times when you and he were comming up here to seek shelter from a hurricane. Needless to say you did not make it here and ended up injured trying to help someone else out in a time of need. He seemed like a nice man who had a great concern and a love for his son. I don't think your father ever met a stranger. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
