It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of W. Grant Braly, M.D., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed Orthopedic Surgeon, who left us on Tuesday, the 4th of June 2024. Born on the 25th of August 1953, in Georgetown, Texas, Grant was the son of the late Norma and Walter Braly. He grew up with his two surviving brothers, Joel and Houston Braly.
Dr. Braly led a distinguished career as a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, fellowship-trained in Foot & Ankle Surgery. He was a partner of Fondren Orthopedic Group from 1985-2016 and was instrumental in building the reputation prestige of Fondren Orthopedic Group and was a founding member of Texas Orthopedic Hospital. His expertise and dedication to his field garnered numerous recognitions and awards throughout his career. Grant found great joy and content in rounding on his patients and providing them with exceptional, compassionate care. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Grant was a man of many passions and hobbies. A proud Eagle Scout Award recipient, he was known for his meticulous habit of labeling everything. He favored spending cherished weekends at the ranch, and his love for tinkering and inventing kept him busy during his retirement.
Grant was a devoted father who cherished bringing his children everywhere and welcoming them into any of his hobbies.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Caroline Hansen Braly, with whom he shared 46 happy years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful family and life. He is also survived by their children: Frank Hansen Braly, Houston Lee Braly, II, M.D., and Morgan Fain Braly. His legacy lives on through his adoring grandchildren: Avery Blake Braly, Harper Lee Braly, Juliet Annelise Braly, Fain Ellyce Hoerster, Aidyn Vale Braly, and Daniel Jordan Hoerster.
Friends are cordially invited to greet the family during a visitation from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 7th of June in the Grand Foyer and Library of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Grant’s life and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him at a funeral service that is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 8th of June in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
In honoring Grant’s memory, we reflect on a life lived with passion, dedication, and love. His contributions to medicine and the countless lives he touched will be remembered always. Rest in peace, W. Grant Braly.
