Vivian Velda LaCross Ramirez was born in Hanford, CA on Feb. 21, 1921. She passed away from health complications on May11, 2012 at the Houston Hermann Memorial City Hospital. She is survived by a son C.W. (Bill) Ramirez and wife Dorothy, daughter Rita Marker and husband Harry,and John Villarreal and wife Hilde and a sister Barbara Jean LaCross Cortez who is the last surviving LaCross sibling.She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a great great grandchild.
She served her country in WWII welding airplanes as a true “Rosie the Riveter”. She had a reputation through the entire community as a “Master Tamale Maker”.
Family and friends may pay their respects starting at 5 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 14 starting at 2 p.m.. Both services will be held at the Forest Park Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale in Houston.
